Progress and the past go hand-in-hand in the historic town of Pendleton, South Carolina. Founded in 1790 on land which just a few years earlier had been a part of the Cherokee Indian Nation, Pendleton now is one of the largest historic districts in the nation.

The vision of Merchant's Gate is to seamlessly blend into the
historic fabric of Pendleton while returning to proven architectural
and town planning principles that were started in Europe centuries ago.

Merchant's Gate begins with a strong focus on the beauty of architecture
of the 1790-1830 period and offers key building rules. Each home is then
individually constructed from one of our Select Builders.

The result is that the quality of construction is insured, but the form is
